my spirits barely afloat
the hot tears seared my eyelids, cousins
and the sadness filled my throat
Did we cry enough?
say goodbye enough?
did we leave any words unsaid?
Will we bottle up all that sorrow, cousins
or try to release it instead?
If we meet tonight as we pace the halls
in search of elusive sleep
let us stand hand-in-hand in a circle, cousins
let us bow our heads and weep
