Generation Gap

They gather in the parks
and the public places
with their silver hair
and their wrinkled faces
With their memories of hula hoops
and going to the moon
and a grassy knoll in Dallas
one November afternoon

They rail against technology
and the looming crisis
of an electronic universe
and digital devices
The world has changed a lot
since they were young and fancy-free
and nothing’s quite the same
as how it always used to be

A spokesman gave an interview
but wouldn’t give his name
he said these things are natural
and no one is to blame
It’s not about technology
if you want to know the truth
It’s just that we’re from yesterday
and we’re envious of youth
