Multitasking

What am I doing? 
I’m multi-tasking, 
it’s not going well 
but thanks for asking.

I’m out on the highway 
and I’m not alone 
ten thousand drivers 
all on the phone.

I’m eating my breakfast, 
a bagel with cheese, 
and steering my car 
with my elbows and knees.

Just finished shaving 
and combing my hair,
in my rear-view mirror 
I look so debonair.

I’m sending an email
while I’m on hold 
and drinking my coffee 
before it gets cold.

My laptop is loading 
a brand new CD 
and I’m watching the news 
on my dashboard TV.

My Blackberry’s blinking 
there’s a message to check 
hope I can do that 
without causing a wreck.

Rush hour’s a nightmare 
a crisis is looming 
with all these commuters 
gabbing and grooming.

This is no way 
for a nation to thrive
so take my advice:
please hang up and drive!
