pockets / bolsillos

I can’t get by without pockets / bolsillos
like I can’t build a house without bricks / sin ladrillos

my pockets are small so it’s better / mejor
not to use them for carrying a flower / una flor

my pockets can hold many things / muchas cosas
but a basket’s mejor for my roses / mis rosas

if it’s small, I can carry a lemon / limón
here in the pocket of my pants / pantalón

and I’d love to carry an apple / manzana
if not today, then maybe tomorrow / mañana

when I go to visit my uncle / mi tío
and he takes me down by the river / el río

he’ll teach me to stand in the waves / en las olas
and catch little fish by their tails / por las colas

and when I come back to my house / a mi casa
my brother will ask me what’s happening? / ¿qué pasa?

I’ll tell him it’s really quite simple / sencillo
and ask what he has in his pocket / bolsillo
