Please and Thank You

Please and Thank You, in my estimation
are fundamental principles of civilization
When I ask for something and I say please
metaphorically speaking I’m on bended knees
And when it’s granted, it’s my contention
that a word of thanks is the right convention
Younger generations, I suspect
don’t understand that it shows respect
So please take heed: if you don’t say thank you
I’ll put you over my knee and spank you
