My Parents' Parents

My parents’ parents
had parents of their own
and they all had ancestors too
stretching back in a line
through the mists of time:
two by two by two

At some point my blood line
diverged from yours
when some siblings
each went their own way
but I’ve not forgotten
the bond we once shared
on a distant, unknowable day
