Why do our children get tattoos
and wear those complicated shoes,
then grow their hair and dye it red
or shave it to the bone instead?

I guess that pressure from my peers
could make me pierce my nose and ears.
But I’d resist them, I’d be strong,
I’d never wear my shorts that long.
