For your birthday I thought
I'd draw some cartoons
or send you a cake
and some pretty balloons

or buy you a ticket
to a distant beach
on a beautiful island
that's hard to reach

Instead (and because
of the shortage of time)
I'm sending this e-mail
and making it rhyme
